Since 26th of May the Slovak project manager Marek Soos started his working mission in Afghanistan. His duty is to cooperate on implementation of the project “Reintegration of Returnees and IDPs in Qara-bagh” together with the local ADRA Afghanistan team. In these days a realization of the project “Reintegration of returnees and IDPs in Qarabagh” in Afghanistan officially has been started. The project is purposed to construct 178 new shelters for the families, which had been forced to flee the Afghanistan during the war time and after returning back they found their properties destroyed by Taliban. Project is going to be financed with an amount of 232 thousands Euro from the grant of the official development assistance of Slovak republic - SlovakAid and is supposed to be completed by the 30th of November 2009. For a few years are we preparing in the cooperation with the partner from ADRA Austria and ADRA Germany the project „Kinder helfen Kindern“ – „Children help children“. The idea of the project is that the pupils in the school across whole Austria and Germany with the help of theirs parents prepare some present parcels, which in the next step are distributed in the countries of Eastern Europe and Balkan. In common the present parcels can contain things such school supplies, toys and clothing and they are addressed for children from the regions with higher rate of unemployment, children from children’s homes and social vulnerable families. Our project „Farming Opportunities for Babušnica“ is about to be completed, we could have said during the monitoring visit on Monday, 9th of December. Gradually till the end of summer there had been completed a construction of first 20 cow sheds in Stol, Aleksandrovac and Kambelovac settlements – the roof had been lie, the door and windows been set, and inside the trough and railings for tying the animals had been added. A plate with the main sponsors and stakeholders: SlovakAid, ADRA and Babušnica municipality had appeared on the frontage of sheds. [more...]

Just one year ago Julius Drugda returned back from his one-year mission in South Sudan, where he had been managing project WATSAN - Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion for Nasir. This project, financed by Official Development Assistance of Slovak republic – SlovakAid brought to Nasir new water main and 5 pit latrines. Since then, not only in his professional life has he managed a lot of useful and important, but also in a personal life – he got married in August :)). Despite of time, his narratives and stories from Sudan are still attractive. Silver Spring, Maryland—Last weekend, record rainfall caused deadly flooding and landslides in southern Brazil, killing at least 84 people, displacing more than 54,000 from their homes, and affecting an estimated 1.5 million people in the region. In response, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is launching an emergency response in the state of Santa Catarina to provide food aid for nearly 7,000 affected by the floods. A fully loaded LGV lorry with material support provided by ADRA Austria arrived to Slovakia on the 11th of September. The shipment from the hospital in Leoben, Styria contained medical equipment: 24 pieces of mechanical and 4 pieces of electric hospital bed, 24 pieces of bedside table, 4 small cupboards, two pieces of medical lamp and two illuminated displays for x-ray. Equipment were delivered to the F.D.Roosevelt Faculty Hospital in Banska Bystrica. [more...]
